Application of Business Processes and Embedded Controls
Scope:
This is an individual project that requires the development of an event- driven IT
application prototype for a business process for your chosen company ( Any company of your choice). The
project will conclude in a demonstration of your working database.
The objective of the project is to:
o Apply the cumulative instruction provided in this course to a final project that
integrates your understanding of the course material and the database
management skills presented throughout the semester.
o Increase understanding of how technology affects organizations, and the varying
information needs of different industries; and
o Increase understanding of how the use of technology and the knowledge of
business processes can help accounting professionals produce and deliver more
valuable information.
Organization of the Project:
You will be assigned the responsibility of creating an event-driven information
system for a business you have chosen. You should make sure that your business
process incorporates some of the unique information aspects of the industry you
have studied (e.g., for the health care industry – patient management).
STEPS OF THE PROJECT:
I would like for you to create the AIS database for your company’s
partial sales/collection cycle. Use the following steps to work through completing your database:
1. In MS Word, create the Logical model for your company from the REA model given for this
project (see REA model in screenshot). Make sure the names of your table and the attributes of the
tables are customized to your company. (Do not use “Item# or “Sales Clerk” primary key names
– be creative and have the names fit your industry. Example: “furniture#” for primary key of
inventory for a furniture store, “Barista” used by Starbucks for their sales clerk). Also collect
data via non key attributes on your customers which fit the needs of your industry.
2. In MS Access, create all tables, complete with required attributes;
primary keys, foreign keys, and non-key attributes for each of the business events
(including resources, agents) from your the Logical model created in Step 1.
3. In MS Access, insert real-time information risk controls. Your new tables should have the
following internal controls implemented (see Controls lab)
• the Now Date for the Date field in your operating event tables
• Auto number as the data type for the primary key for your Operating event table (see
vancement and learning improvement among students around the world. To support the instructive objective of our nation, distance learning is a better approach for giving quality schooling however much as could be expected among public and confidential foundations particularly to those tightening in advanced education. The informative conveyance in considering distance training can be through simultaneous or nonconcurrent method of learning, in which understudies can connect with and consistently achieve quality schooling in spite of the pandemic circumstance.
As per article gave by College of Waterloo (2020), coordinated learning is a type of discovering that is live show which permits the understudies to pose inquiries while nonconcurrent can be a recorded show that permits understudies have the opportunity in reflecting prior to seeking clarification on some pressing issues. Coordinated learning is an ordinary gathering of understudies in a virtual setting and there is a class conversation where everyone can partake effectively. Nonconcurrent learning is the usage of learning stage or entrance where the educators or teachers can post and refresh examples or exercises and understudy can work at their own speed. These kinds of class guidance are regularly seen during circumstances such as the present and understudies have their own inclinations with regards to what best works for them.
In contrasting both of the kinds of learning, it is important to know the benefits and hindrances to perceive how it will truly be an effect towards understudies. Wintemute (2021) examined coordinated learning has more noteworthy commitment and direct correspondence is available, yet it requires solid web association. Then again, offbeat learning is worthwhile in plan adaptability and more open, yet it is less vivid and the difficulties in tarrying, socialization and interruption are available.
In the emergency, nonconcurrent learning can be more positive than coordinated in light of the fact that the majority of us are battling in this pandemic. One of the chief benefits of nonconcurrent web based learning is that it offers greater adaptability, permitting students to set their own timetable and work at their own speed (Anthony and Thomas, 2020). Conversely, coordinated learning permits understudies to feel associated in a virtual world and it can give them confirmation of not being confined in the midst of concentrating on illustrations since they can ha
