National Standards for Professional Learning
The National Standards for Professional Learning (NSPL) are a set of guidelines that outline the essential components of high-quality professional learning. The NSPL are designed to help organizations ensure that their professional learning is effective and aligned with their goals.
The NSPL include six standards:
- Learning designs are aligned with the organization's goals and needs.
- Outcomes are measurable and aligned with the organization's goals.
- Leadership is committed to professional learning and creates a supportive culture.
- Data is used to inform professional learning.
- Learning communities are collaborative and support continuous improvement.
- Sustainability is ensured through ongoing support and resources.
- Assess the current state of the learning community. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the current learning community? What are the needs of the organization and its employees?
- Set clear goals for the learning community. What do you want the learning community to achieve? How will you measure its success?
- Create a plan for implementing the learning community. Who will be involved in the learning community? What resources will be needed? How will the learning community be structured?
- Communicate the plan to the organization. Make sure that everyone in the organization knows about the learning community and its goals.
- Provide ongoing support for the learning community. This includes providing resources, training, and opportunities for collaboration.
