Patient empowerment is defined in multiple ways depending on the context and objectives. EPF defines it as a “process that helps people gain control over their own lives and increases their capacity to act on issues that they themselves define as important” patient empowerment is particularly important because it enables the patient to take responsibility for their health and thus seeks medical care only when necessary to do so.to be a successful nurse advocate, one needs to posses the following values, altruism, honesty, autonomy, human dignity, integrity and social justice.
