One (1) male and one (1) female in non-traditional occupations (e.g., a male secretary or preschool teacher, a female firefighter or plumber, a male nurse or dietitian); and,
one (1) person who belongs to one of the protected groups (e.g., a person with physical handicaps, racial/ethnic minority group member, gay or lesbian). These people should be members of a skewed group or isolated members of a minority group in their organizations. Discuss with them their occupational experiences.
Examine these issues in detail by asking the following questions of all interviewees:

Did you feel that you were more prone to performance pressures? (Explain ‘performance pressures’. Probe a little. Ask them to think back to their first few days on the job. If they say ‘no’, ask them why they feel they did not experience any performance pressures.)
Did you experience any boundary heightening? (Explain ‘boundary heightening’ first. Probe a little. Ask them to think back to their first few days on the job. If they say ‘no’, ask them why they feel they did not experience any boundary heightening.)
Did you experience any role encapsulation or stereotyping? (Explain ‘role encapsulation and stereotyping’. Probe a little. Ask them to think back to their first few days on the job. If they say ‘no’, ask them why they feel they did not experience any of this.)
How did you cope with these issues? (Probe a little; ask for examples).
