Bullying and its effects on the community
Report of a mini-qualitative research project. You may work alone or in a team of up to 2
people. This assignment is based on a research project of your choice. Ideally, you should pick a topic
related to your work/interests and that would provide you with easy access to participants. Instructor will
discuss sample topics in class
The paper includes the following sections:
• Introduction that identifies your purpose and central research questions;
• A brief review of the literature in which you locate the contribution your study makes to the literature;
• A description of and rationale for your methodology/strategy of inquiry including
o General description of research setting studied and sampling methods you used for selecting participants.
Describe any criteria you may have had for participants and briefly describe participants and how you
gained access to them.
o A description of your data collection strategies including brief description of key instruments used(ex.
semi-structured interviews, recording devices, interview guidelines, observation forms) and steps you took
to collect data (ex. Observation, interviews, focus groups, etc) Describe the date collection process
thoroughly.
o A description of your data analysis strategies. Discussion may include how you organized data and any
data coding procedures used. Explain how you looked for patterns in the data collected.
• A report of the results and implications. What are the results from your data collection activity(ies)? What
implications might these results have on your topic (i.e, influence on practice, policy, theory, and/or future
research
