Instructions:
- Please rate each statement on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being "strongly disagree" and 5 being "strongly agree."
- Please answer each question honestly and thoughtfully.
- Your responses will be used to help you assess your classroom culture/climate and to make improvements as needed.
- Students feel safe and respected in my classroom.
- Students feel comfortable taking risks and sharing their ideas in my classroom.
- Students feel like they belong in my classroom.
- Students feel like they are making progress in my classroom.
- Students are motivated to learn in my classroom.
- Students are engaged in learning in my classroom.
- Students feel like they can contribute to my classroom.
- Students feel like they are part of a community in my classroom.
- Students feel like they can make a difference in my classroom.
- I am proud of the classroom culture/climate in my classroom.
- Add up your scores for each statement.
- The higher your score, the more positive your classroom culture/climate is.
- A score of 30 or above indicates a positive classroom culture/climate.
- A score of 20-29 indicates a somewhat positive classroom culture/climate.
- A score of 19 or below indicates a negative classroom culture/climate.
- If your score is 30 or above, you are doing a great job of creating a positive classroom culture/climate. However, there may still be some areas where you can improve.
- If your score is 20-29, you have a somewhat positive classroom culture/climate. There are some areas where you can improve, but overall, your classroom is a positive place to learn.
- If your score is 19 or below, you need to make some changes to improve your classroom culture/climate. There are many resources available to help you, such as books, articles, and workshops.
- Set clear expectations and rules. Make sure that students know what is expected of them in your classroom.
- Be respectful of students. Treat students with respect, and they will be more likely to treat each other with respect.
- Create a sense of community. Help students feel like they are part of a community, and they will be more likely to feel safe and supported.
- Be positive and encouraging. Let students know that you believe in them, and they will be more likely to believe in themselves.
- Celebrate successes. When students succeed, take the time to celebrate their successes. This will help them feel motivated and proud of their work.
