The Internet of Things, or IoT, is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers (UIDs) and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. An IoT ecosystem consists of web-enabled smart devices that use embedded systems, such as processors, sensors and communication hardware, to collect, send and act on data they acquire from their environments. Along with advanced data analytics, IoT-enabled devices and sensors are helping us reduce air pollution in some of our world`s biggest cities, improve agriculture and our food supply, and even detect and contain deadly viruses.

Renata et al in their study in 2013 went further to support the work of Haynes et al by stating that it is important that interest to introduce approaches for improving patient safety is well-versed by producing of effectiveness. There has been recent research focused on the establishment of a patient safety approach within the hospital system (Ulrich & Kear, 2014). Ammouri, Tailakh, Muliira, Geethakrishnan, Phil and Al Kindi in 2015, suggested that patient safety culture is related to teamwork and handoffs.
