Casas, Juet, Heckenwelder. Be sure to compare with specific, QUOTED detail and
explain how you read the quoted lines. Compare the language, images, and the
emphasis of their work. How do the explorers conceive of their mission, based on the
language in the works provided? How do some observations of details in their work show
their connection to an evolving American mythology or identity? Or in which ways do they
not?
