Company memo

Your company conducts training sessions for new employees. You have observed that many of the new hires have been using cell phones in class, checking their email on company time, and text messaging to fellow employees—to pass on personal material to each other or relay personal information—or even to individuals outside the company.

This greatly concerns you as President of the company, both because the employees are not concentrating on what is being taught during the training sessions, thereby making them less likely to succeed in their jobs when training ends, and because you have a problem with employees using text-message or email account names like “Sexyguy2010” and “Squirrelgirl42” for inter-company communications.

Draft a company memo, to be sent by you as the President, addressing company rules and procedures concerning Digital Communications, including:

(1) rules concerning cell phones while in the classroom during training sessions, and

(2) rules concerning proper text-message/email account names for inter-company communications.

Make sure that you incorporate all the elements of good business correspondence, as discussed in Ch. 8, and that you format this properly as a memo in accordance with proper memo formatting.
