Determining your learning style can be both beneficial and fun. Go to the VARK website (http://varklearn.com/introduction-to-vark/the-vark-modalities/) and learn about the four major learning styles:
Visual, Aural (Auditory), Read/Write and Kinesthetic. Then take the VARK Questionnaire (http://varklearn.com/the-vark-questionnaire/). Once you know your style(s) read about the different learning
strategies here:
Visual Strategies – http://vark-learn.com/strategies/visual-strategies/
Aural Strategies – http://vark-learn.com/strategies/aural-strategies/
Read/Write Strategies – http://vark-learn.com/strategies/readwrite-strategies/
Kinesthetic Strategies – http://vark-learn.com/strategies/kinesthetic-strategies/
Now answer these questions:
Was this your first time taking this type of inventory? If no, did your results change from the last
time? If so, did your learning style results surprise you?
Now that you have identified your learning style, how will you apply this knowledge to your
studying?
Reflect on the studying strategies you have used previously. Have your study habits been effective?
Why or why not? What studying strategies from this week do you think will be helpful?
.page 97-“In a similar moment it happened to him that he didn’t have a clue what shading the young lady’s eyes were. They were most likely darker, however individuals with dim hair here and there had blue eyes. To turn his head and see her would have been incomprehensible indiscretion. With hands bolted together, undetectable among the press of bodies, they gazed consistently before them, and rather than the eyes of the young lady, the eyes of the matured detainee looked sadly at Winston out of homes of hair.”
This segment the finish of section 1-shows the amount Winston regard older sibling’s capacity. His interest (and conceivable activity) is unimportant, and even so he accepts this small turn of the head to be “incomprehensible indiscretion.” His patience, which permits him to remain quiet about his contemplations except if he is certain it is protected, is a trademark that benefits Winston on various occasions.
4.page 81-“It was a wild, incomprehensible idea, to be deserted when thought of; yet the room had stirred in him a kind of wistfulness, a kind of genealogical memory. He couldn’t help suspecting that he knew precisely what it felt like to sit in a room this way, in an easy chair alongside an open fire with your feet in the bumper and a pot on the hob; totally alone, absolutely secure, with no one watching you, no voice seeking after you, no solid aside from the singing of the pot and the well disposed ticking of the clock.” (Note: there is no telescreen right now)
For what reason does Winston have memory of not being viewed by elder sibling? Is this a reference to the absence of reconnaissance (and Big Brother when all is said in done) in his youth or something different?
5. Page 91-“He wolfed another boring dinner in the container, rushed off to the Center, participated in the serious nonsense of a ‘conversation group’..”
I thought calling the conversation bunch a “grave silliness” was a fascinating depiction since it takes the two points of view. The seriousness is the outside point of view on it, however Winston trusts it to be silliness. This is an interesting expression (sort of) in that holding a stupid thought in high respect is silly, yet the belief system of the gathering is really imperative to other people.
6.A)page 91-“… Winston could barely hear what Parsons was stating, and was continually requesting some silly comment to be rehashed”
