Dow Jones, a News Corp Company is a news and financial media corporation based in New York City. Founded in 1882 by Charles Dow, Edward Jones, and Charles Bergstresser as the Wall Street Journal to provide real-time stock market data, Dow Jones has since grown into one of the largest global publishers of business journalism (Forbes Magazine 2019). The company’s portfolio consists of over 30 international news outlets such as Barron’s, MarketWatch, Financial News, Mansion Global and DJX which together reach millions of readers across the world providing them with up-to-date information on markets trends and industry analysis.

In addition to its publishing operations, Dow Jones also engages in other activities such as consumer research through its proprietary polling platform ‘This Moment’ which allows for more detailed insights into consumer sentiment about certain products or services (Dow Jones & Company 2016). Moreover, Dow jones also partakes in financial services through its investment advice arm called SmartSelect which provides personalized investing recommendations tailored to each customer’s individual needs (SmartSelect 2017). As reported by Forbes Magazine in 2018 ,the company had revenue estimated at $5 Billion that year making it one of the most profitable businesses within the publishing sector.

When considering foreign expansion opportunities for Dow Jones & Co., there are several countries that could provide advantageous benefits due to their unique demographic characteristics or existing infrastructure. One potential option is India given its large population size (~1.4 billion people), growing economy (~$2 trillion GDP in 2019 according to World Bank data) and improved technological infrastructure that facilitates digital product delivery across multiple platforms (Deloitte Insights 2019). India’s vibrant youth culture combined with rising disposable incomes makes it an attractive destination for companies looking to expand beyond traditional markets like China or Japan where growth has slowed significantly due to maturity issues (Deloitte Insights 2019).

Additionally, India presents opportunities not only through direct consumer sales but also through content creation partnerships such as those formed between Netflix Inc., Amazon Prime Video LLC or other streaming service providers who have recently seen tremendous success within Indian markets thanks largely due to their expansive catalogs featuring both local films as well as popular international offerings (Times Of India 2020). This presents an opportunity for companies like Dow Jones & Co .to leverage their existing content production capabilities while expanding into new geographic locations where they can tap additional potential customers within these developing markets.
