Scenario
Technology has revolutionized healthcare significantly in recent years. As technology continues to evolve, healthcare leaders are focused on ways in which new technologies can be leveraged to improve costs,
access, and quality of care.
You are the associate consultant for a health quality management organization. Your organization advises health service providers on ways to improve quality and safety in the delivery of care. You have been asked by the senior consultant to conduct research on a new technology that has the capacity to positively impact healthcare delivery. Use your research to write an executive summary detailing your findings regarding the technology.
Examples of technologies that have the potential to change healthcare and its delivery include:
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Internet of Medical Things (IoMT)
Centralized monitoring of hospital patients
Chatbots
Electronic underwear that prevents bedsores
Disinfectant lightbulbs
Instructions
Create an executive summary in which you discuss the following:
Identify a new or emerging technology that may significantly improve quality, increase access to care, and/or reduce long-term costs.
Discuss the global implications of implementing the selected technology.
Explain how the new technology may result in improved outcomes and increased efficiency.
Describe potential challenges to implementing the technology and proposed solutions to those challenges.

Introduction
Healthcare information technology (HIT) systems are essential for the delivery of high-quality healthcare. These systems can help to improve patient care, increase efficiency, and reduce costs. However, in order to achieve these benefits, HIT systems must be properly implemented and used.
Evaluation of HIT Systems
There are a number of factors that need to be considered when evaluating HIT systems. These factors include:
- The purpose of the system: What is the system designed to do? How will it be used?
- The functionality of the system: Does the system meet the needs of the users? Is it easy to use?
- The security of the system: Is the system secure? Is patient data protected?
- The cost of the system: How much does the system cost? Is it affordable?
- The impact of the system: How will the system impact patient care? Will it improve efficiency? Will it reduce costs?
- Training users: Users must be trained on how to use the system. This training should be comprehensive and ongoing.
- Supporting users: Users should be supported by IT staff if they have any problems using the system.
- Monitoring the system: The system should be monitored to ensure that it is working properly. This monitoring should include both technical and operational aspects of the system.
- Making changes: If the system is not meeting the needs of the users, changes should be made. These changes should be made in a timely and efficient manner.

- Artificial intelligence (AI): AI can be used to automate tasks, improve decision-making, and personalize treatment.
- Machine learning: Machine learning can be used to identify patterns in data and make predictions.
- Big data: Big data can be used to gain insights into patient care and improve decision-making.
- Blockchain: Blockchain can be used to secure data and ensure its integrity.
