Interpretation of four seismic profiles

The practical involves the interpretation of four seismic profiles that cross one another, creating a grid. The overall objectives are to map out distinctive sedimentary (acoustic) facies, interpret the depositional architecture, and evaluate the controls on the basin margin development. 1) Map the fault network, 2) Map the salt bodies, 3) Identify depositional packages, 4) Mark unconformities, 5) Identify the geographical distribution of thinning/thickening of packages relative to the position of the salt diapirs, 6) Hihglight pre-salt, syn-salt and post-salt sequences. You have to hand in your interpretations together with a 1500-word report, which should include a discussion on the origin of the salt diapirs (extension vs compression) and provide a basin evolutionary history. Your report should be structured following: 1. Introduction, 2. Overview of the Zechstein salt deposition in the Central European basin, 3. Methods, 4. Results, 5. Discussion, 6. Conclusions.
