Why is it important for managers to motivate workers in the workplace based on class lectures and assigned readings?
Motivation is a derivative concept that arises from the word motivate which in itself means needs, desires, wants, or drive within an individual. Motivation is the process of inspiring people into action in order to accomplish certain action. It has been scholarly argued that psychological factors that stimulate people`s behavior are but not limited to desire for money, recognition, success, team work and job satisfaction. The most imperative quality of good management is to create willingness amongst the employees to perform to the best of their abilities. In light of the foregoing, the role of a leader therefore is to arouse interest in performance of employees.
