Music is a powerful form of expression that allows us to convey our emotions and experiences through sound. While it has been said that music must be rid of all scientific apparatus in order to truly experience its effects, I believe this isn’t necessary in today’s modern world. In fact, technology can be used as an invaluable tool to help create new forms of musical expression and expand the possibilities for musical exploration.

One way technology has helped enhance the musical experience is by providing new ways to record sounds. Musicians are now able to use computers and digital audio workstations (DAWs) to capture their performances with unprecedented accuracy, allowing them to craft complex compositions with ease. This can open up creative possibilities for musicians which weren’t previously possible due to limitations posed by traditional recording methods (Weinberg et al., 2018). Additionally, advances in audio software such as synthesizers, samplers and sequencers have given producers the ability to manipulate sound in ways never thought imaginable before (Kamien & Riggs, 2013). By utilizing such tools, musicians can achieve levels of sonic complexity that were impossible even just a few decades ago.

In conclusion, while some may argue that music should be stripped away from any technological influence so as not deprive it of its emotionality or naturalness, I feel that modern-day advancements have instead provided us with a wealth of opportunities when it comes producing new music. Through the use of cutting edge technology we are no longer limited by traditional methods but rather empowered through greater access and control over our creations. As such, I believe there is tremendous potential for technology continue playing a major role in shaping how we perceive and appreciate music now and into the future.
