In Willa Cather’s ‘My Antonia,’ the author does a masterful job of conveying the wistful mood that permeates throughout the novel. The story follows two childhood friends - Jim and Antonia - as they struggle to find their place in an ever-changing world; and through this we are presented with a tapestry of emotions—ranging from hopefulness and joy to sadness & loneliness (Cather 2012).
