Nursing practice now and in the future
Develop and share your personal nursing mission statement. How will this guide and impact your nursing practice now and in the future?
I believe that nursing is a calling, not just a job. It is a profession that allows me to use my skills and knowledge to help others in their time of need. I am committed to providing compassionate, holistic care to all of my patients, regardless of their background or circumstances. I believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and I will strive to provide that in all of my interactions. I am also committed to lifelong learning and professional development, so that I can continue to provide the best possible care to my patients.
This mission statement guides my nursing practice in the following ways:
- It reminds me that my patients are people first, and that their needs are my top priority.
- It helps me to stay focused on the importance of providing compassionate care, even in difficult situations.
- It motivates me to continue learning and growing as a nurse, so that I can provide the best possible care to my patients.
- Compassion: I believe that compassion is the foundation of good nursing care. When I am compassionate, I am able to connect with my patients on a deeper level and understand their needs. I am also able to provide care that is tailored to their individual circumstances.
- Holistic care: I believe that holistic care is essential for providing optimal patient care. This means considering the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of my patients. I am committed to providing care that addresses all of these dimensions of a person's health.
- Lifelong learning: I believe that lifelong learning is essential for nurses. The field of nursing is constantly evolving, and I need to stay up-to-date on the latest evidence-based practices. I am committed to continuing my education throughout my career so that I can provide the best possible care to my patients.
