My personal diet is largely influenced by a number of factors. Firstly, I consider the nutritional contents of foods before I make my choice about what to eat. For example, when shopping for groceries, I often try and look for items that are high in protein, low in sugar and contain plenty of vitamins and minerals. This helps ensure that whatever food item I choose will provide me with essential nutrients to keep me healthy.
Another factor that influences my food choices is time constraints. When pressed for time or feeling particularly busy, having nutritious ready-made meals on hand can help save valuable time in the kitchen while still providing beneficial nutrition. Such meals may include microwavable dishes like vegetable stir-fries or frozen fish fillets with a side of prewashed salad greens.
Taste also plays an important role in influencing my food choices as well. While selecting healthier options is paramount to me, it’s equally necessary that these choices must taste good as well so as to encourage eating them habitually over junk food alternatives (Ludwig et al., 1999). As such, when creating recipes or experimenting with new ingredients at home, I always take into consideration how they would fit into a balanced plate while still being tasty enough so as not be off putting or boring after some time has passed since its first tryout!
