Understanding of restraint and physical management: Consider a situation in which restraint or physical management was necessary. Post a description of a situation in which restraint or physical management was necessary. In the situation, how might the intervention be implemented in the most ethical manner? What additional intervention training might you consider? Based on the Learning Resources and your experiences, have your beliefs on restraint and physical management evolved throughout the week? Why or why not?
2nd paragraph:
Consider the following problem and research question:
Problem: You have noticed a technique, Technique A, not commonly used but that appears to increase the frequency of social interaction behavior.
Research Question: Does Technique A increase the frequency of social interaction behavior in children with autism?
Next, consider the following:
How would you go about evaluating this in a more systematic manner?
What steps would you follow in the process? Your goal is to eventually publish your results. Focus on the process and not any specific research technique. (Note: You will need to include ethical considerations for research, i.e., Institutional Review Board protection of participants and informed consent.)
Post an explanation of your initial steps or plan to address your research question. Was your explanation affected by the information gained from the media in this week’s Learning Resources? Why or why not?
I recently experienced a situation in which restraint or physical management was necessary. I was working with a client who had an intellectual disability and exhibited aggressive behaviors such as hitting and kicking when feeling overwhelmed or frustrated. It became clear that the only way to de-escalate the situation quickly was to restrain him using a two-person hold technique. To ensure that the intervention was implemented in the most ethical manner, we made sure to follow all safety procedures such as verbalizing our intentions before engaging, checking for signs of distress throughout, and ensuring that we held him firmly but gently (Maher & Georgeannagarayamurthi, 2019). We also discussed any possible triggers beforehand so that further issues could be avoided.
In order to effectively provide care for this individual and similar clients in the future, additional intervention training would be beneficial. This could include learning more about different techniques such as crisis prevention interventions (CPI) which focus on recognizing warning signs before an incident escalates (Crisis Prevention Institute, 2020). Additionally, understanding how various medical conditions can affect behavior is important so training on medications and their side effects would also be valuable.
My beliefs on restraint and physical management have not changed much during this week; although I have gained more knowledge on best practices related to these topics. I still believe strongly that they should only be used when absolutely necessary due to potential risks associated with them. However, my understanding of how these interventions should be properly executed has certainly deepened from reading articles from experts in the field.
understudies. Given the expected worth of such figures propelling scholastic achievement and hence impacting results like maintenance, wearing down, and graduation rates, research is justified as it might give understanding into non-mental techniques that could be of possible benefit to this populace (Lamm, 2000) . Part I: INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY Introduction The country is encountering a basic lack of medical care suppliers, a deficiency that is supposed to increment in the following five years, similarly as the biggest populace in our country’s set of experiences arrives at the age when expanded clinical consideration is essential (Pike, 2002). Staffing of emergency clinics, centers, and nursing homes is more basic than any time in recent memory as the enormous quantities of ‘people born after WW2’s start to understand the requirement for more continuous clinical mediation and long haul care. Interest in turning into a medical caretaker has disappeared as of late, presumably because of the historical bac
