Reflexology Clinics in My Neighborhood
I went on a field trip to my neighborhood and found two reflexology clinics. Both clinics are located in strip malls and offer a variety of services, including foot reflexology, hand reflexology, and ear reflexology.
Relationship of Reflexology to Natural Body Systems and Functions
Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflex points on the feet, hands, and ears that correspond to specific organs and glands in the body. By stimulating these reflex points, reflexologists believe that they can promote healing and improve the function of the body’s natural systems.
Use of Reflexology in Health Restoration, Health Promotion, and Illness Prevention
Reflexology can be used to restore health by addressing a wide range of conditions, including pain, stress, anxiety, fatigue, and digestive problems. It can also be used to promote health and prevent illness by boosting the immune system, improving circulation, and promoting relaxation.
Evidence-Based Research on Reflexology
There is a growing body of evidence-based research that supports the effectiveness of reflexology for a variety of conditions. For example, a 2014 study published in the Journal of Clinical Nursing found that reflexology was effective in reducing pain and improving sleep quality in patients with cancer. Another study, published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews in 2015, found that reflexology was effective in reducing anxiety in people with dementia.
