Read the Sermon on the Mount (Mt 5:2-7:27) and provide your own analysis of a major theme which runs throughout the Sermon. Look for at least 3 instances in the speech where the theme reappears (often with variations) to justify your claim that this is a major idea or concept in Jesus's teaching in this text.
Think about the way that speeches function with an Introduction to get the attention of the audience and a Conclusion designed to be memorable and reinforce desired actions and the importance of Repetition of themes.
Jesus speech on the sermon on the mountain presents something like a manifesto of the kingdom of God. It declares to us what we really are and reveals the relationship between us and the God’s commandments. In this speech arises several thematic concerns that Jesus really wished to reach and enrich his disciples. Therefore, in order reveal and understand the underlying themes embedded on the speech, a critical and internalized view must be given on why Jesus chose to use a speech form of a kind to reveal the very themes herein. This will be the essence of this paper as confirmed further in the following paragraphs.
