1. The Navy wants to know what skills and abilities I have that will benefit the Navy. Resourcefulness, cultural
and geopolitical knowledge, language fluency and ability, leadership, problem solving, adaptable and versatile in
difficult situations, analytical (detail oriented, finding patterns in volumes in intelligence information, strategic
and able to predict how opposing troops will respond), excellent communication of information (teaching,
conveying and or presenting intelligence information), people skills (intelligence gathering), naval related skills
(navigation, engineering, weather and water currents, tracking vessels and retrieval or salvage of items or
vehicles or people at sea).
2. Why do I want to be in the Navy. What inspires me to join the Navy? (should not be too long or complex)
Patriotism, Motivation from friends and colleagues who serve in the Navy Reserves, To utilize my skills and
potential to serve and protect my country.
3. Why I believe I will make a good Navy Intelligence Officer – my broad range of work experience and travel,
language, versatile skills and multi disciplined educational background make me a single and unique candidate.
When you have a combat job in the Navy, your skills and abilities directly affect those with whom you serve. Working under tight timelines with limited resources and finding a way to get the job done under adverse conditions is all part of a day’s work in the military. Military members are often excellent problem-solvers because they have extensive experience with conflict resolution. If you were exposed to a variety of logistical challenges, social issues within your squad or tactical problems, then you probably have advanced problem-solving skills.
