The Battle of Lexington was the first major military engagement of the American Revolutionary War. It took place on April 19, 1775, in Lexington, Massachusetts.

• Lexington Green: The British troops encountered a small group of colonial militiamen on Lexington Green. A shot rang out, and the fighting began. Eight colonists were killed and ten were wounded.

• British Retreat to Boston: After the brief skirmish at Lexington, the British continued their march to Concord. However, they were met with fierce resistance from colonial militia along the way. The British were eventually forced to retreat back to Boston, suffering significant casualties.
