Imperialism is a policy or ideology of extending a country's rule over foreign nations, often by military force or by gaining political and economic control of other areas. Imperialism was both normal and common worldwide throughout recorded history, the earliest examples dating from the mid-third millennium BC. As such, the existent of powerful nations throughout the history of human existence has experienced this sense of extension of one’s power and influence to the perceived inferior nations. This kind of activity was immensely experienced in Asia and Africa among other nations of the world. The modern period do not experience the direct impact of imperialism as it was before, however their influence to their former colonial masters is often felt to date, This paper will bring into our attention the historical developments of two imperial powers in modern period and highlighting how each developed throughout history into today’s existence
