Why is vulnerability so important for a leader?
his discussion is meant to be a conversation with your classmates. Your initial post should be a short paragraph, which will allow your classmates to relate, engage and add onto your initial thread.
In her book, Daring Greatly, Brene Brown describes vulnerability as “uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure.” It`s that unstable feeling we get when we step out of our comfort zone or do something that forces us to loosen control. Vulnerability is such an important part of being successful, both in a personal and an organizational context. It informs a lot of what we do and is an integral part of one of our core values: “have the courage to be vulnerable.” Vulnerability builds trust and elevates performance. We all struggle with things but sharing them is not a sign of weakness, it`s actually an incredibly powerful way to build trust. Vulnerability is led by example. As a leader, vulnerability affects the way you think and lead. You have to be willing to be vulnerable to create trust in the workplace.
