You have been hired by President Trump to control the coronavirus pandemic. He has given you broad authority to implement any policies/programs that you think would minimize the spread of the disease and, of course, reduce the number of Americans dying from the virus to the absolute minimum.
Please write a 4/5-page paper, using some of the concepts we learned in this class, detailing exactly how you would accomplish reducing the number of people who not only contract Covid-19, but for those who do, how you would reduce the severity of disease and lower death rates.
Some things you might want to mention:
– what is the coronavirus?
– what are typical symptoms?
– who is most at risk of becoming seriously ill or dying?
– how can the spread of coronavirus be minimized?
– would you focus your resources the same across the nation or would you focus on certain areas of the country?
– what agencies (federal, state, local) would you include in your response efforts?
– would you try anything new? Think outside the box?
What is the coronavirus?
Coronavirus disease [Covid-19] is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with the Covid-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness and even death. The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the Covid-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands regularly using sanitizers, and public distance. Hard-won experience, changing demographics and reducing strain on hospitals can reduce the number of people dying from the virus. WHO is one of the agencies which is leading and coordinating the global effort, supporting countries to prevent, detect, and respond to the pandemic.
