I have always been passionate about environmental sustainability and my goal is to make a difference in this field. My vision is for humanity to live in harmony with nature, a balance that has been lost over the years due to our over-reliance on consumerism and exploitation of natural resources. I believe that it is possible to achieve this balance through education, advocacy, and action–which are all tools available at our disposal.
One way I plan on making a difference is by educating myself further in the area of environmental science and policy so that I can better understand the complexities of global climate change as well as develop skills which will help me tackle issues related to conservation & preservation. Additionally, I plan on joining local advocacy groups & initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable practices within my community such as volunteering with beach cleanup days or participating in tree-planting programs.
On an individual level, it is important for me to be conscious about how my everyday decisions affect the environment. Small but impactful changes such as limiting single-use plastic consumption or investing in renewable energy sources are achievable steps we can all take towards achieving a more sustainable lifestyle (Lutz 2020). It’s also important for me to remember that while there may not be immediate results from these actions they still contribute significantly towards creating lasting positive change.
