t this point in the course, you have covered the work of the actor, the director, and the playwright. Since all three have an artistic interest in presenting good work to an audience, I have question for you….
“Whose point of view is most important in presenting that performance to an audience?” You must select one (and only one) of the following options:

There is no one correct answer for this question–what I am looking for is who’s p.o.v. you select and how you justify your answer based on what has been discussed in the course.

The most important point of view for presenting a performance to an audience is that of the director. This is because it is the director’s job to bring all the elements together- from actors and scriptwriters, to set designers and sound engineers – into one cohesive vision. The director has ultimate responsibility for making sure that all these diverse components work together in order to create something special on stage or screen; without them, there would be no unified artistic vision.
The actor’s point of view is also significant as they are responsible for bringing characters to life and conveying emotion through their performances. However, without direction on how to best do this, their performances may lack focus if left unchecked. Similarly, the playwright’s point of view can certainly add depth and richness when crafting dialogue and plot points but much like actors need guidance on how best to express themselves in order for these elements to make sense within context of a performance as a whole.
Ultimately, it falls upon the directors shoulders to unite everyone else’s perspectives into something that resonates with an audience’s emotions or ideas about human behavior which requires both creativity and technical know-how about constructing stories on stage or screen (McGee & Johnson-Laird). As such, while each component brings its own vital contributions towards creating a meaningful performance experience none can exist independently in its fullest potential without the director’s guiding hand at its helm.
