Reading journal “American Dirt”
Choose 3 passages from chapters 7- 15 (in American Dirt) to analyze (choose passages from a range of chapters). If you choose a passage that is dense (i.e., layered), you will have more to work with in your analysis section. The directions on pg. 1 say, “Choose 2 question [stems]” to do the analysis section. In other words, I am asking you to use multiple questions to help you write a substantial analysis. 1 sentence analysis will Not receive credit. Also, try using textual analysis questions (not just personal response questions) to help you extend your critical thinking skills. ~150 words per analysis; ~450 words total (for 3 entries). Also, remember to briefly summarize the chapters in a few sentences at the end of your TEJ. The goal of your TEJ work is to give you material for your upcoming essay.
