Getting Real About Shared Purpose, Values, and Vision
Your work with Highpoint Industries has gone well. Your discussion with Darleen regarding the balance between head and heart skills went very well and together you were able to articulate some strengths and deficits on her C Level team. While this led to some follow up conversations and coaching opportunities for you, you came to realize in your discussion with Darleen that indeed almost every member of the team seemed to lack a clear understanding of what it meant to have a shared purpose, a common set of values, and a clear and articulate vision. Darleen had shared this concern and again you had observed support for this deficit based on follow up conversations you have had. To that end, you are planning a bit of “whole group” instruction to deal with this issue. Darleen has prepared a two hour training session to take place in the weeks to come. For this assignment, you are to develop a PowerPoint that would serve as a central focus for this training.
Your PowerPoint presentation should include the following and completely answer all of the questions for each bullet point. Use clear headings that allow your professor to know which bullet you are addressing on the slides in your presentation. Support your content with at least four (4) citations throughout your presentation. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for the presentation. Include a reference slide at the end. Follow best practices for PowerPoint and Prezi presentations related to test size, color, images, effects, wordiness, and multimedia enhancements. Please be sure to also include speaker notes that support and provide details regarding what the speaker will actually say.
• Component 1: (2-slides) A definition of shared purpose, values, and vision.
• Component 2: (4- slides) Application – In this second section you will provide illustrations for how these essential elements in any organizational culture are manifested in a professional practice. Although you are not an expert in the business of basketball hoops, you do have enough working knowledge to at least begin to address how these essential elements indeed can and should result in a better business proposition for Highpoint Industries.
• Component 3: (5-slides) In part three for this PowerPoint, you are to issue a growth challenge to all those involved. The growth challenge is to include specific steps they can take to begin to more directly apply the concepts of shared purpose, values, and vision in the organization.
• Component 4: (2- slides) Conclusion – Please provide a brief overview regarding the information covered and any final thoughts.
