My goal is to become a successful business analyst in the technology sector. To achieve this, I have developed a 3-5-7 year plan for my career development that outlines specific and achievable objectives at each stage of my journey.

Within the next 3 years, I will focus on gaining experience in data analytics and system design by pursuing relevant internships and educational opportunities. This includes taking online courses related to software engineering, database administration, and programming languages such as SQL, Python, Java etc. Additionally, I intend to broaden my skill set by working on projects with various teams from other departments within the same industry or organization to gain firsthand knowledge of how different systems interact with one another (DeRosa & Puleo 2017). In order to stay up-to-date with current trends in the field I will also attend industry conferences/workshops as well as read articles published by experts in this area.

In the following 5 years after this period , I hope to make significant strides towards becoming an expert in business analysis . Towards that end ,I plan on expanding my network by actively participating in professional groups/organizations related to technology solutions/analytics , attending webinars/seminars focused on topics like AI ,machine learning etc., publishing research papers /blog posts discussing latest advances made in these areas , continuing learning new programming languages while further honing existing skills.(DeRosa & Puleo 2017)

Lastly, over the course of 7 years into my career development timeline ,I anticipate taking more leadership roles within organizations thus combining expertise acquired earlier along with managerial capabilities such as project management decision making etc.( DeRosa & Puleo 2017 ) As part of this effort it’s important for me remain abreast about developments happening across industries so that appropriate decisions can be taken when needed . At this point onwards contributing back through services such volunteering or mentorship programs becomes equally essential . Being able to not only grow professionally but also using experiences gained throughout journey towards helping others progress takes center stage here (Barnes 2020 ).

Therefore, incorporating civic and social responsibility into future career aspirations is incredibly important since it serves dual purpose of establishing presence within community while providing opportunity for personal growth which may lead one down undiscovered paths enabling them to get closer towards ultimate goals set out initially ( Barnes 2020 ).

e are two types of workforce planning: hard and soft. CIPD (2018) Hard workforce planning is based on quantitative analysis, predicting how many employees, with what skills, are expected to be needed. Soft workforce planning ‘is more explicitly focused on creating and shaping the culture of the organisation so that there is a clear integration between corporate goals and employee values, beliefs and behaviors’ (Marchington and Wilkinson, 1996). It’s about finding a strategy within which information can be considered. The CIPD note the main stages of workforce planning to be: understanding the organisation and the operating environment, analysis of the workforce, determining future workforce needs, identifying gaps in the workforce, developing an action plan, and monitoring and evaluating action plans and solutions. Workforce planning aligns the strategic and business planning process with hiring and retention planning. When workforce planning is properly implemented, it can have many benefits. It can help identify issues early to avoid disruptions and costs. It can also help to identify roles and shortage of talent in the organisation, in order to fill the roles. An example of this is when an organisation is looking to expand their workforce and they can identify what sort of employees they need in order to make the expansion properly. Another advantage of workforce planning is that it can help an organisation retain employees. For example, if there is high turnover in a certain department, workforce planning can help an organisation find the cause of that certain turnover and put strategies in place to prevent it and retain employees. Furthermore, another advantage of workforce planning is that it can help avoid delays or disruptions that can have a negative effect on business profits.

Nonetheless, there are disadvantages of workforce planning. For example, the future is uncertain and there are many external factors that can have an affect on the employment opportunities, such as technological, political and cultural factors. Therefore, organisations cannot rely on workface planning. A further disadvantage of workforce planning is that it is time-consuming: organisations need to acquire all sorts of information and personal requirements of the workforce and then find suitable solutions.
