Welcome everyone! Today I’ll be presenting a briefing on organizational design challenges that need to be addressed in order to substantially improve patient outcomes within the nursing care unit. To begin, let’s review our four main core challenges:
1. Leadership – This involves developing effective leadership structures and systems for managing staff so that they can provide optimal levels of care (Armstrong et al., 2011). For example – identifying roles/responsibilities among senior managers while also recognizing areas where collaboration between different departments is necessary.
2. Governance – Developing policies and procedures that ensure compliance with state/federal regulations while also providing guidelines around best practices when it comes delivering services (Wheatley & Freiberg, 2016).
3. Processes – Establishing a systematized approach toward providing care which includes steps taken when fulfilling orders as well as protocols related communication amongst stakeholders such as physicians and nurses (Goddard et al., 2018).
4. Culture – Ensuring a positive organizational culture exists by fostering trust between members creating unity throughout workplace through shared values/missions centered on improving quality of life patients being served (Chowdhry & Khattarwala, 2017).
