Therefore, I believe we need a dedicated tax specifically designed for safekeeping our drinking water venues so that resources are readily available and can be used when needed.
This dedicated tax would aim to fund initiatives such as the replacement or repair of old pipelines which are one of the biggest culprits in terms of creating health and environmental problems through contamination (Lyons et al., 2020). As well as this, money could go towards investing in technologies that help detect contaminants in order to monitor any potential risks before they become an issue (Cao et al., 2021). This would enable us to take action early on rather than having contaminated pipes affect local communities who may not have had access to clean water prior.
Another key area where funds could go towards is educating people on how they can reduce their own environmental footprint which includes things like using fewer toxic cleaning products or reducing unnecessary plastic consumption (“EPA: Pollution Prevention” 2020). This approach will ensure that everyone plays their part and helps prevent further harm from occurring due to pollution.
Furthermore, by dedicating a specific tax just for this purpose it will guarantee regular financial support for keeping our drinking water sources safe and clean. It also sends a strong message about how seriously we view this issue and how much importance we place on protecting them both now and into future generations
