Based on information gathered from our informants and secondary data on our community, one of the health issues identified was substance abuse in the community. A motor vehicle accident is a risk that can be related to this issue.

Using the intervention wheel method approach, screening intervention is what I recommend as the most suitable public health intervention for our community health risk. Screening quickly assesses the severity of substance use and identifies the appropriate level of treatment (SAMHSA,2021). This screening intervention will also address related issues like homelessness, motor vehicle accidents, gun violence, and crime-related.

The evidence-based psychosocial intervention has been approved to be the most effective intervention for drug abuse. A research literature review is taken from PubMed, and some specific journals substantiate those psychosocial interventions for substance dependence can promote behavior change (Jhaniee, 2014).

They can be implemented individually or in groups and delivered by a range of volunteer health workers or students. We can also collaborate with self-service groups like the Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) programs and some therapeutic communities that serve drug addiction victims.

Bhambra has debunked the conventional beliefs about ‘the European ownership of modernity’ illustrating both the multiplicitous roots of the Renaissance period and has opened intriguing lines of enquiry about the importance of the enslavement and dispossession of humans from ‘the world beyond Europe’ in ‘contributing to the commercial growth that stimulated the development of the West’ (Bhambra, 2007, p.137). Marx’s primary contributions to sociological thought is to depict the fact that ‘what makes modernity modern is, first and foremost capitalism itself’ (Sayer, 1991, p.12). Therefore, what Bhambra posits, leads us to the scholarship surrounding the intricacies of the relationship between racism and capitalism, an area mainly labelled racial capitalism.
