As your professional knowledge and expertise increase in the TESOL field, so will your opportunities for professional leadership and advocacy.

Imagine as a member of the ELL task force, teachers often ask you about how they can continue to professionally grow in their knowledge of working with ELLs. As a result of this, your principal asks you to present information at a staff meeting for classroom teachers working with ELLs in your school.

As a member of the ELL Task Force, I am often asked about how teachers can continue to professionally grow in their knowledge of working with English Language Learners (ELLs). As part of this, I have been asked by my principal to present information at a staff meeting for all classroom teachers who are currently working with ELLs in our school district. The following is an outline of a 30-minute professional development session which will provide specific opportunities and strategies for continued growth as educators in supporting ELLs.

The first 10 minutes of the PD session will focus on the importance and value of ongoing professional development (PD) within the field. I will discuss the various benefits that come from seeking out such opportunities including expanding one’s ability to serve students better and staying up-to-date on new teaching strategies, research findings and other relevant topics related to language acquisition. Additionally, I will also highlight how pursuing PD helps strengthen collaboration amongst educators both across districts as well as between administrators, parents/guardians plus community members too (Garcia 2020).

The second 10 minutes then dives into what types of PD are available for ESL or TESOL related topics. Here I plan to explore a few different options such as online seminars or webinars hosted by organizations like TESOL International Association or attending conferences held within our state or even nationally if possible. Moreover there are various certification programs available through universities which could be pursued either part time or full time depending upon individual needs plus several institutes providing specialized workshops specifically targeted towards improving instructional practices when it comes to working with linguistically diverse populations.

Finally, during the last portion we can move onto discussing ways that teachers can integrate PD activities into their daily routines – whether it is through connecting with peers from other schools/districts, joining reading clubs focused around certain books covering relevant themes or simply setting aside time each week dedicated towards exploring additional resources etc.. Ultimately these solutions should be tailored so they meet individual needs while also allowing everyone involved to remain engaged throughout this entire process.

In conclusion, this 30 minute professional development session aims at helping equip classroom teachers who work closely with ELL students build sustainable practices along with long term goals thus ultimately leading up improved student outcomes overall.

Economic growth is vital for people to reap the benefits of an economy that is successful. When the citizens of a country see the ways in which their government has improved their country’s economy, they become satisfied, and satisfaction leads to stability in all realms.

Capitalist societies provide opportunity for globalization because of the free market. Globalization has its critics, such as Joseph Stiglitz. Stiglitz says that the bottom 90% in the US have experienced stagnation in their incomes for about thirty years (2016). While this may be true, Stiglitz is ignoring that there are economic implications to war because of foreign trade. Globalization has benefited China greatly, therefore globalization has its benefits. Free global markets force relationships and tolerance between countries. Communist economies have closed markets, like the Soviet Union. They relied solely on their economy, which may have been a contributing reason for their collapse. Globalized free market economies ensure global peace. The formation of trade arrangements such as NAFTA, and the EU has resulted in higher stakes for wars, because they have the potential to cause a larger economic downfall than in the past. Without a free market economy, trading is not possible, because foreign trade would not occur.
