Supply chain management, the management of the flow of goods and services, involves the movement and storage of raw materials, of work-in-process inventory, and of finished goods as well as end to end order fulfillment from point of origin to point of consumption. Last mile delivery is defined as the movement of goods from a transportation hub to the final delivery destination. The focus of last mile logistics is to deliver items to the end user as fast as possible. In disaster relief efforts, supply chain management is frequently used when goods have to be procured, managed, and moved to those who need them. An example of a successful supply chain operation took place after the occurrence of the Asian tsunami in December 2004 [IFRC2004]. One of the most important issues in disaster relief operations has been logistics/supply chain activities. Supply chain activities are aimed at responsively and cost-effectively matching demand and supply of goods such as food, shelter, tents, and medicine.
