Disobedient Youths

Should disobedient youths be suspended from school? Does this solution hurt or help?

Sample Solution

Most educators believe that every student, whatever their color, background, or zip code, has the right to learn in a supportive environment—one that respects their humanity, upholds their dignity, and responds fairly to mistakes and missteps. However, zero tolerance and other exclusionary school discipline policies contradict these beliefs and instead push kids out of the classroom at record rates. Suspension of disobedient youths from school is not a viable or long-term solution in any manner. Suspension of students depicts the irresponsible attitude of schools, which want to shrug off from their objective of shaping the child’s future. Excluding juveniles from school does not appear to positively influence their behaviors. Therefore, instead of suspending disobedient youths from school, it is beneficial to provide them with in-school detentions so they are still required to complete their work and participate in activities that are more likely to help them correct their behaviors. Cognitive and affective school-based intervention programs can be used in a manner that helps correct some of these behaviors.

The cultural heritage may be defined as the entire corpus of material signs – either artistic or symbolic – handed on by the past to each culture and, therefore, to the whole of humankind.
