Current Healthcare Organization I work in a large academic medical center in an urban area. The organization has a strong culture of innovation and is committed to providing high-quality care to all patients. However, the organization does not currently have a robust telemedicine program. Potential Opportunities for Evidence-Based Change There is a significant opportunity to use telemedicine to improve access to healthcare for rural and underserved populations. Telemedicine can allow patients to see specialists and receive recommended preventive care without having to travel long distances. This can be especially beneficial for patients with chronic diseases, who may need to see their doctor regularly. Evidence-Based Idea for a Change in Practice I propose that our healthcare organization implement a telemedicine program for adults with chronic diseases living in rural and underserved areas. The program would provide patients with access to a variety of specialists, including cardiologists, endocrinologists, and nephrologists. The program would also provide patients with access to recommended preventive care, such as annual checkups and screenings.
