Humans are largely responsible for the environmental degradation we see today. From deforestation to air pollution and global warming, human activity has had an undeniable impact on the planet’s ecosystems. It is therefore incumbent upon us to take action in order to protect our fragile environment from further harm.

The primary cause of environmental damage is our overconsumption of natural resources. As humans continue to grow in population, our need for food, water and other resources also grows exponentially; this has resulted in large-scale destruction of forests, soil erosion and biodiversity loss (Goudie et al). Additionally, we have seen a sharp rise in emissions due to industrial production which contributes significantly to climate change (Kraft et al).

Given these facts it is clear that there needs be more effort put into reducing our collective carbon footprint as well as better management of existing resources. This could involve implementing various policies such as taxation on industries known for releasing dangerous pollutants or incentivizing people to adopt renewable energy sources such as solar or wind power (Yamamoto & Tominaga). Additionally, governments should strive towards increasing public awareness about the issue by investing heavily in education campaigns which educate people on sustainable practices they can adopt in their daily lives.

In conclusion, it is evident that humans are largely responsible for the current state of environmental degradation globally. To combat this problem,we must focus on reducing consumption while encouraging sustainable alternatives. It will require collective efforts both from individuals governmental institutions if we hope make any true progress when tackling this issue.( Yano & Hasegawa 290-295 )
