I think that the technological development we see today, is fundamentally changing our society into something we will find hard to understand in under a decade.
In the early lives of human existence, we developed by evolution and later by learning to use and produce tools with the purpose to make our lives easier. Humans have always seeked to improve their life.
Today we have an extremely fast-growing technological advancement and many scientist’s see a future where we are cooperated with technology in our bodies. Many companies are developing medical products, and some are creating more newly developed ideas which could had been taken out from a science fiction movie such as the idea from the company Sanctuary. Sanctuary is an artificial general intelligence (AGI) company having the goal to make machines like us, able to think and behave like human beings. Sanctuary call them synths and is what they are going to be, synthetic intelligence, or are they? What is intelligence? And can we determine what’s “synthetic” intelligence or just intelligence?
I think that some of the elementary premises that lie beneath the approach to understand intelligence is that it’s a property of a physical body and cannot be disconnected or detached from it. Like us humans our intelligence evolved to help us as an organism to better navigate and manipulate our environment to help us archive our goals, and I believe that in order for a synth to understand the world in the same way as we do, it needs a body that’s as close to a human body as possible. I think that if its body function the same way as a human body, it will help synthetic intelligence to develop concepts and an understanding of the world that is similar to the way our own minds work.
Some companies are developing human body modifications and human enhancement in the purpose for medical use, today we see body prosthetics on humans being used by their brain signals to control their movement but in the near future I think we will begin to see non-medically body modifications as prosthetics to the body parts we already have, combining technology in a way that make us more robots.
But making synthetic intelligence look and behave like us humans, while we at the same time make ourselves look like synthetic intelligence combining us with prosthetic body parts, isn’t that making us almost the same? We can both think, we have the same body shape, we are both part robot, and we are in a sense both human. When do we reach the point where we are more machine than human? And can we identify synths in a point where they are just as humans as us. I think that humans will make major m
