There are 100 million homeless children living in the streets around the world. 250,000 children die every week from diseases and malnutrition. For example, the main cause of homelessness in Texas is lack of affordable housing, which is especially pronounced in Austin, Dallas-Forth-Worth, Houston and San Antonio, the urban areas driving Texas’ population growth. But low-income families are also struggling in smaller cities. Frisco Family Services helps members of the communities who are facing hunger, homelessness, and other urgent needs improve their quality of life and achieve self-sufficiency. There are ways in which homelessness can be addressed and they include: Stopping people from becoming homeless in the first place, providing emergence supports like shelter, food and day programs, while someone is homeless, and the provision of housing ongoing supports as a means of moving people out of homelessness.
