Health promotion and wellness

The word health refers to a state of complete emotional and physical well-being. Healthcare exists to help people maintain this optimal state of health. The WHO defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve their health. There are several theories and models that support the practice of health promotion and disease prevention. They include: the health belief model – key elements of the health belief model focus on individual beliefs about health conditions, which predict individual health-related behaviors; stages of change model (transtheoretical model); theory of reasoned action/planned behavior; and Pender`s health promotion model – designed by Nola J. Pender, it defines health as a positive dynamic state rather than simply the absence of disease.

 

 

 

 

 

The Progession of Poems
Adrienne Rich and Paulo Freire share a common theme in transition and society. Both are talking about the transformation of society and the relationship people have in writing. Freire talked about the way teachers teach the students, and there is no contradiction as they are sitting there waiting for information. Rich uses a similar theory in her essay “When we die” where she talks about society and how it is suppressed. Both have similar theories, but they have different ways to express their arguments.
