Are there any “real” heroes to be found in the 21st century? Why or why not?
The unending debate on heroism is something that dates back to ages and ages hence. Different societies give different understanding to the notion of heroism. To some people it might be to look impressive, or act above the ordinary. To another camp it involves showing strength and or courage in tough situations. Arthur Ashe, the renowned American tennis player defined true heroism as, “remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost.” In this paper, I will in precision, investigate and put in perspective whether this century (21st) is also graced with real heroes.
