Here’s a little more information about the characteristics of a “conversation poem”:
Speaker usually is in an outdoor setting
Reader “overhears” the conversation the speaker is having with a silent listener
Begins with a description of the landscape, the description triggers a memory
Speaker “achieves an insight, faces up to a tragic loss, comes to a moral decision or resolves an emotional problem”
Poem often “ends where it began, at the outer scene, but with an altered mood and deepened understanding which is the result of the intervening meditation”
