Human Development: Anatomy and Physiology
Anatomy:
- Fertilization:Sperm meets egg, forming a zygote, the initial stage of development.
- Embryonic Period:Zygote divides, forming a blastocyst which implants in the uterus. Major organ systems begin to develop.
- Fetal Period:Fetus grows rapidly, with further development and refinement of organ systems.
- Prenatal Development:Nutrients and oxygen from the mother reach the fetus via the placenta and umbilical cord.
- Growth and Differentiation:Cells divide and specialize to form different tissues and organs.
- Hormonal Regulation:Hormones play a crucial role in growth, development, and preparing the body for birth.
