From 2006 to 2007, numerous export-oriented Korean companies entered into the famous KIKO, also known as, “knock-in, knock-out” target forward contracts to prevaricate against an appreciating Korean currency, the Won. KIKO contracts amalgamate two derivative option conditions: a knock-out put option that terminates when a knock-out event occurs, and a knock-in call option that comes into existence when a knock-in event takes place.
