Mobile learning is the use of technology for educational purposes. Mobile devices that can be used for education include tablets, smartphones, laptops, and personal digital assistants. The most popular device is the smartphone. This nursing program is a great example of mobile learning. Mobile technology in education has been used to enhance student involvement, provide content, and supplement knowledge acquisition (Shan-Wei et al., 2022).

Home dialysis nurses use mobile technology daily. Home dialysis patients use an iPad to record their treatment data, including their vital signs, the condition of their dialysis access, and issues with their treatment. This information is uploaded digitally to the unit and the nurse reviews the data daily. The training nurse uses an application on the iPad to complete modules with the patient in addition to hands-on training. Peritoneal dialysis patients have a modem connected to the dialysis cycler and treatment data is transmitted to the nurse within 24 hours to review.
