o wrap up our topic of police and use of force we have one more task to accomplish! Please respond to the following:
Select a real-life example of a law enforcement officer who is a positive influence in the community.
Identify three attributes of the law enforcement officer in question that make them a model of ethical behavior or a positive role model. Note: Try not to pick the easy choice like Officer Tommy Norman who has received national attention for his actions concerning the people of his community, most notably his charitable actions toward the youth within his jurisdiction.
I would like to highlight Sergeant Angela Davis, a police officer currently serving in the Phoenix Police Department. While there are many commendable officers nationwide, I believe Sergeant Davis embodies a unique set of attributes that make her a model of ethical behavior and a positive role model for her community.
Three attributes that set Sergeant Davis apart:
Why not Officer Tommy Norman?
While Officer Norman’s charitable actions are commendable, Sergeant Davis’s impact extends beyond individual gestures. Her focus on de-escalation, community engagement, and internal advocacy addresses systemic issues and fosters long-term positive change within the police department and the community as a whole.
By highlighting Sergeant Davis and similar law enforcement officers, we can showcase the positive aspects of policing and inspire others to embrace ethical behavior and community-oriented approaches.
