Organizational behavior (OB) is the study of how people interact and work within an organization. It focuses on how organizations can be managed more effectively by looking at how individuals, teams, and structures impact individual and group performance. OB encompasses a wide range of topics such as motivation, communication, leadership, decision-making, conflict resolution and change management (Robbins & Judge, 2017).
Organizational behavior can be used to understand different components of an organization in order to optimize performance. For example it is important for managers to understand the roles that values play in organizational culture as they set standards for acceptable behavior (Robbins & Judge , 2017). In terms of managing interpersonal relationships between employees,, understanding emotional intelligence is critical in developing effective communication strategies which are key to successful teamwork (Van Eeden & Lively , 2018 ). Additionally assessment techniques can be used to evaluate job satisfaction amongst employees’ this provides employers with valuable insights into what motivates staff which could result in improved productivity levels (Borkowski et al., 2018).
The use of organizational behavior strategies within an organization has the potential to create positive outcomes such as increased employee engagement and efficiency. However failure to address issues related to organizational culture or poor communication may lead to lower morale among workers and reduced productivity levels(Van Eeden & Lively , 2018 ). Moreover if certain ethical standards are not adhered too , there could be severe reputational damage inflicted upon the organization both internally or externally(Weber & Weber 2011). Therefore it is essential that health care managers recognize their coordinating role regarding organizational behavior which should help them make informed decisions when dealing with complex situations.
