Pakistan is a country located in the Indian subcontinent that has been struggling with heavy rainfall for decades. Heavy rainstorms have become a major problem in the country, causing flooding, property damage, and even death due to mudslides and other natural disasters. The severity of these storms has increased over the years and is often attributed to climate change as well as deforestation and poor land management practices (Mughal et al., 2020).

The history of this issue dates back to the 1950s when large-scale floods occurred regularly due to inadequate drainage systems, an ever-increasing population, unplanned urbanization and rapid deforestation (Hussain et al., 2014). This trend remained unchanged until recently when there were more frequent flash floods resulting from extreme precipitation events which worsened conditions even further. In addition, global warming has led to an increase in temperatures which further increases moisture content in air leading up to monsoon season creating larger storm systems (Mughal et al., 2020).

To tackle this dilemma Pakistan must make strides towards better managing their environment by implementing sustainable agricultural methods such as crop rotation & terracing as well developing water saving irrigation techniques while also promoting reforestation efforts across all regions. In addition, they should take steps towards improving infrastructure in order to reduce runoff & mitigate flood risks while investing into early warning systems so that people living near rivers or coastal areas can be warned ahead of time if necessary.
